too bad 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up?" isn't there. While the track list in Singstar 90s definitely includes some iconic songs from the 90s like 'I Only Wanna Be With You' by Hootie and The Blowfish, 'I Want You' by Savage Garden, and 'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia, it also includes some clunkers that seem to be on every karaoke game. From the inevitable Natalie Imbruglia to Divinyls, from Sixpence None the Richer to the challenging voice of The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan, women can finally exercise their singing skills in these extremely popular tracks. Some of the cheesiest examples of '90s rap are represented in the game by MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" and especially by Sir Mix a Lot's "Baby Got Back." From that, you can schizophrenically move to the saddest ballads ever written by human beings, such as R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts" and Seal's "Kiss From a Rose." Why happy parties of friends should take the time to sing them is totally unclear, but here's the good news: there's a lot for women to sing, unlike other SingStar installments. In comparison, the previous SingStar '80s was a more representative compilation that kept a fast and light-hearted pace through its 30 universally recognizable songs. Such is the case of Technotronic's "Pump Up the Jam" and New Kids on the Block's "Step by Step." The few more recent songs are all from the late '90s, which leaves a big gap in the middle of the decade: there isn't much to represent grunge, apart from Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun," Nirvana's "Lithium" and Stone Temple Pilots' "Plush." And, of course, there's no trace of Brit Pop: no sign of Oasis and no Blur, even though they had an important role in that decade.
